Liam Ball Sculpture
Contemporary British Figurative Sculptor
Liam Ball creates unique figurative sculpture from reclaimed wood, driftwood, copper, pewter, brass and found objects. Working in East Sussex, Liam has been making sculpture for over 30 years. His work combines the physical character of reclaimed materials with stories drawn from mythology, nature, human relationships and everyday life. Each sculpture begins with the material itself. The shape, texture and history of a piece of wood or found object can suggest a figure, a movement or an idea. Rather than trying to hide those origins, Liam incorporates them into the finished work. The result is sculpture that sits somewhere between the real and the imaginary: recognisable figures and creatures emerging from materials that have already lived another life
